Now the existing users are in a dilemma whether they should upgrade Dynamics NAV 2017 to Business Central or keep using the older version. Technically, the users of NAV 2017 have to undergo no changes apart from the change of names. Microsoft NAV 2018 is the last version of the solution with that name. It has been rebranded as Dynamics 365 Business Central On-premise.

However, the NAV users will remain confined within the existing functionalities and will not be receiving any upgrades. Microsoft will provide their support to the existing users but will not introduce any new advancements into the system. Thus, in order to keep up with the changing market needs, one has to migrate to Dynamics 365 Business Central. Additionally, there is a high chance that the users who are reluctant to transition will become outdated as Microsoft will entirely cease to sell Dynamics NAV to new users.

To conclude, you will not face any difficulty in the operation if you keep using Dynamics NAV 2027, but considering the following years, you stand a chance to fall behind the curve.

To upgrade Dynamics NAV 2017 to Business Central, is just like upgrading from any older version of NAV to a newer one. However, the licensing specifications and offerings have changed to become more flexible and user friendly. While transitioning, you will have to undergo certain changes in terms of hosting and integration which will be taken care of by the implementation partners.
